A consistent picture of Denethor, and the different episodes/facets that make up the character of the man you portrayed, throughout his life.
It's terribly sad: how often his good intentions (e.g. giving Faramir a tutor to teach him philosophy and poetry) turn out to be the very reason why there remains distance between him and others; how you can see how he strives and struggles, trying to reach out, and _almost_, but never quite, succeeds in making a connection. How his constant failures wear him slowly out as time goes on.
A very moving and well told story.

So sad a portrait of a man who never learned to express himself well.

This was beautiful. I have never given Denethor that much thought, and might not in the future either, but this story is one of the most powerful I have read in a long time. Thank you.
