Forum Purpose & Rules

The News forum is for just two things. News about this site and comments on that news by logged in members. Anything else should not be posted here. Only moderators can start new conversations, and only logged in members can post comments.
Everything else should be posted in the correct forum.
The standard rules apply here a well.

Additionally:
Do not cut and paste whole articles from other sites, rather post a small pull quote, a credit to the original site & author and a link to article.
Proper English, correct grammar and spelling are encouraged.
Ardent debate, even if heated at times is welcomed, but please remain civil.
Given the current lack of civility in discussions of politics, religion, and other hot button topics, I am asking people to refrain from making posts of that type. I want this to remain a place where Tolkien fans can meet, discuss Tolkien and escape from the troublesome world for a bit.

Glad to se you figured it out. You are the first person to post here other than me.
It had to start somewhere. It is a start, which makes me happy.

I was unable to post a new avatar today. Is the one you used today one you uploaded today or was it from your old account?
It is a second piece of info on the little puzzle I have to solve.

i uploaded the avatar now - i mean, after creating the account a few days ago.
as for the old forum... actually, i can't remember if i was a member on the old forum at all. was i? did i post? many years passed, and i just don't know. |

The riddle gets complexer, which my spell checker says isn't a word.
It's on my list of stuff to do.
I'm in the middle of updating my computers' operating systems. Still have two more to do. Yes, I'm big nerd, and have four computers within 20 feet (6M) of each other. Not as weird as it sounds, my main workstation, backup workstation, laptop, and a small PC connected to the TV to make it possible to stream F1.
And, I have to point out, this is the first actual conversation on this forum.

well, four is a lot :) i have just one. but i've always been crazy about big monitors :D when the standard was 14-15'', i had 17. then, when most people switched to 17, i had 21 :D
fast forward from old "fat" 4:3 to "thin" 16:9.
when most people had 20-22, i had 24. and now i have 28 :D |
