| “Faugh!” Sweaty, the man stripped soot-covered layers, savoring the touch of unheated air on his aching body. It had been a long night and the day before longer still, but the brush fire was finally quenched, the folk it threatened no longer endangered. Behind him, his Dunedain kindred shucked clothes, poking at each other like naughty boys. They were tired – overly so. An icy dip was just what they needed to refresh body and mind before once more slipping into the shadows. “Swiftly lads, we’ve little time.” To a chorus of disappointed groans, Halbarad slipped into water and enveloping silence. |
