I really, really, really, REALLY (did I say really) LOVED "The Emperor." Such a wonderful view of my beloved Sam. I've so missed having time to read about him, particularly your loving portrayal of his and Frodo's relationship. *sigh*

As an occasional tarot reader, I'm very much enjoying these stories. It's obvious that Denethor is the person "speaking" in this story, and I suppose that Arwen (or perhaps Galadriel) is the beautiful woman with the disapproving expression on her face -- even though I can't imagine how she would know that Denethor is trying to "spy" on Aragorn. Is she the one who's making it impossible for Denethor to see him, or is that perhaps Gandalf's (or even Elrond's) doing?

A story which perfectly captures the imagery and the meaning of the Tower card, at least from Sauron's point of view. An unforeseen calamity indeed!

I quite enjoyed this, Larner. I thought that your choices for the cards were very well done and the individual voices rang very true. Sam as Emperor was a stroke of genius.
