Splendid, seamless gap-filler. It is always such a pleasure to sink into your Faramir's mind and thoughts - his nobility, his strength, his beauty of soul are so uplifting. You show them all the more clearly when presented against his behavior in the face of hopelessness.
Shivered at the connection between Angrim the spy (I saw his eyes glitter in the dark) and the palantir (glitter upon its heights) - Denethor's eyes and Eye, and Faramir knows about both of them at this point. Great foreshadowing of the book.
