I first read this story because it was credited in a couple of Isabeau's works with being the origin of the mettarë ritual, but I was thrilled to find a wonderful story that incorporated much more. Faramir's sense of the western lords' loss of hope in Minas Tirith, him missing his brother and his bone-deep love of Ithilen are very clearly and poignantly portrayed. How appropriate he became Prince of this land with his intimate connection with it, well beyond simply defending it for 20 years. Your mettarë ritual and Faramir's stirring speech at the end are marvelous. I loved the whole thing, right down to the title! Thanks for giving us this one.
