Somehow, I knew it would be the Ringwraiths! I love Elrond's last line - the Dark Lord is not one to go for economy. More is better! Overkill is preferable to the alternative...

I like this reminder that we're in "The Hobbit" time-frame, and that the battle against Sauron and the Orcish army is in the build-up stage. Aragorn's childhood views of that event are always interesting.

What a lovely idea, to have Bilbo send a copy of Shire children's stories to Imladris! Elrond must be the only loremaster in the world with one such, and I'm sure that someone who is said to be able to tell a rare tale when he's a mind to would, as a child, enjoy stories from all over M-e.
