Well, I am sworn off serious fanficcing until I have a completed draft of an original novel, but here is a little fragment from around the start of chapter 5 of AGOC.

Turning the corner, he saw her at last – in the courtyard, talking to Mablung. Something he said must have pleased her; she threw back her head and laughed, and he was amazed yet again by the ferocity she brought to everything, even delight. Joining them, he took her hand; she lifted his to kiss it. They were all happy together then, in the surety of comradeship and of love, of the ties between them, and she laughed, and he was glad.

As they bade farewell to Mablung, he told himself: I can hold this together, even as I am, because there is this man to be loyal to me and this woman to love me; even as I am, I can hold this together...

It was evening. Rain was spotting down. As they hurried back inside, she looked back with longing towards the gate and said, “How I wish we were riding out with him.”
