|All the tales of the Valar and the Elves are so knit together that one may scarce expound any one without needing to set forth the whole of their great history.|

Hethlin of Anorien
February, 25 2006
I know CMC's a done deal, but since I intend to give it a thorough editing in the future, I'll include it in this thread, as well as make this a place for any other Heth questions not appropriate for the Silver Swan thread.
Sorry to be so late getting back to this-I've had internet troubles on my end. Always happens when we have a lot of rain.
Imhiriel wrote: I still think "Motherless" is one of your most moving works. I feel the tears prickling in the back of my mind just thinking about it. I think it would be great to have Andra's insight into this time, especially with the glimpses of such a playful, deep, wonderful friendship beginning (cue Humphrey Bogart) between Andra and Nimrien in "Ultimatums".
It's one of my favorites too. I was trying to wrap my brain around what it might have been like for Andra the other day. In Motherless, Imrahil seems to have gotten a grip on himself, but I'm wondering if he was absolutely distraught earlier. I also realized that there was no mention of Adrahil in Motherless, and he was certainly still around. That provided added impetus for a second story about that time.
Even the continuation: How does Imrahil figure/find out that Brand knows? They definitely seem to have an understanding in Passages. Although, thinking about it, I wonder if Andrahar wouldn't just come clean to Imrahil that he'd told the secret, intentionally or unintentionally, once the dust settles over Imrahil finding out about Brand. In fact, I'd love to see the scene where Andrahar tells Imrahil that he's found Boromir's son! Maybe you can roll it all up into the scene of Andrahar telling Imrahil that he smacked down Hethlin... *hopeful look*
This is one that cries out for a one-shot, isn't it? I will have to do it at some point. I do think Andrahar would tell Imri that he'd informed Brand. I don't think Imrahil would necessarily be pleased. If it gets to be too much of a problem, I might have to go back and change things a bit, so that Brand overhears or sees something he shouldn't (like Heth does all the time!) that tells him what's going on without Andra being involved. Because right now I'm having trouble trying to imagine why Andra would have told him.
Btw, I can totally see Amrothos and Brand as Holmes and Watson! Now who could be Professor Moriarty?
Ah, but there doesn't have to be a Moriarty unless I write a bunch of them, now does there? I could always just do one!
In a similar vein, how about a continuation of that hilarious Gimli in Valinor story?
That's another one I would love to finish. One of these days, the rest of it will occur to me. I think water-skiing is involved, but that's all I know at this point.
As for nuzgūl-flinging myself, I'm lazy and just point to many of the great ideas by the others, plus just one of my own: I'd like to see you write more about the time when Nimrien was still alive and she and Imri were making their own happy family. (I can recall just one already-written scene in that time frame: the short story about Imrahil planting a tree).
There's The Best Gift of All as well. I always liked that one because of the Nimrien/Faramir interaction. And Imrahil bringing back the transparent chemise...
