Hethlin of Anorien

 February, 25 2006

I know CMC's a done deal, but since I intend to give it a thorough editing in the future, I'll include it in this thread, as well as make this a place for any other Heth questions not appropriate for the Silver Swan thread.

Lisa's list:
* Some of the meetings that Aragorn mentions in Chapter 19 of CMC, from various people wanting to talk to him about his decision to move Heth to Dol Amroth - particularly the one with Mablung and the Rangers. I've always been curious as to what exactly they thought about having Heth suddenly removed from Ithilien.

It's not real likely at present, but I could get bitten when I go back to editing CMC. A conversation between the Rangers might be a lot of fun!
* The 'conversation' between Faramir and Elrohir before Heth arrives in Chapter 52.
You don't ask for the easy ones, do you? Not sure I'll ever address this, because I'm not sure anything I could write would be as good as what people imagine for themselves.
* Andra telling Brand about Imrahil's offer of marriage to Heth.
This is one I should probably think about, at least the context that would make Andra talk about it, since more than one person (and I think you were one?) has rightly commented that it's not really good of Andra to be bandying Imrahil's private business about to his very young great-nephew.
Also, I was wondering if Heth knows about Andra and Boromir's relationship. I always assumed she would, and then realised that it isn't the sort of thing anyone would feel it necessary to discuss with her.

Apparently, I'm incurably nosy about private conversations!

Well, Heth spent an awful lot of time in CMC overhearing things she shouldn't have known about! This is a very interesting question, Lisa, and it has the sharpest fangs of all your nuzguls. Heth's relationship with Boromir is not as close as that with Faramir, but it's a lot more involved than I originally believed. I'll have to give this one some thought.
P.S. If you decided to finish Blackbow when you have time I'd be thrilled. I've really enjoyed it both times I've read it, particularly Boromir's recurring feeling that Heth needs to stay by Faramir. Foreshadowing is so much fun sometimes.
Thank you! It needs about two more chapters. (No, really it does. Just two!) Poor Boromir, he never gets anything definite from his wonky version of the Dol Amroth gift, except for the one dream in Visions.
