| | Journal Main Read Journal Entry Blog_display Princes of Dol Amroth By:Isabeau February, 25 2006 Questions about the life and times of Imrahil and his family can be asked here, including questions about Ultimatums, Kin-Strife and the shorter stories. Discussions about Brand can go either here or in the Best-Loved Son thread, since his stories sort of overlap both cycles. Comment: So...in Unabeauverse the star brooch is given at the discretion of the Chieftain, whether or not the person has actually served with the Northern Rangers. From what Elrohir said, I gather that the only requirements are that the recipient has achieved a certain standard in fighting (and woodcraft?) skills, fought orcs and other creatures of evil, and has Northern Dunedain blood. Is that right? That's it, pretty much. I figure Aragorn might be giving out more stars eventually, to some of the Ithilien Rangers. And doing a bit of an exchange program, sending Northern Rangers South and vice-versa. Also, is the star brooch normally passed from father to son/daughter like Heth's? What happens when there's a second son who wants to become a Ranger? They get a star of their own, and pass it to their children. The firstborn gets the original star. It's not graven in stone-if there was an uncle who had a star and had only daughters, he could give it to his nephew, things like that. And since I'm on a roll, I wonder whether Heth actually ever serves with the Northern Rangers whose star she wears and learns whether it is similar/different to the Ithilien Rangers? *ducks as nuzgul jumps out* Maybe...(hands in pockets, whistling) I hope that's not _too_ many questions?!!! XP To quote my favorite wizard-"If the giving of information is to be the cure of your inquisitivness, I shall spend all the rest of my days answering you. What more do you want to know?" No, really it's not too many-I'm glad you're so interested. Because we have been getting a lot of spam, we now have a security number which you have to enter in order to post a journal reply.
