|All the tales of the Valar and the Elves are so knit together that one may scarce expound any one without needing to set forth the whole of their great history.|

Princes of Dol Amroth

Questions about the life and times of Imrahil and his family can be asked here, including questions about Ultimatums, Kin-Strife and the shorter stories. Discussions about Brand can go either here or in the Best-Loved Son thread, since his stories sort of overlap both cycles.
And come on, who wouldn't want to read some Imrahil smut! ;-)
*waves hand frantically*
*coughcough* OK, uh, back to the main topics... Now, I didn't read that scene in Passages as Imrahil being a steady souse, just that with the war looming he is thinking more on his mortality, and thus on "wish it was" and "might have been's." The baker does berate him, but I think there's still room for the occasional drinker vs. lush scenario.
I really do think that Imrahil is in love, and knows it. He did spend that entire trip to-from Lorien figuring it out, and tried to convince himself that he would never speak of it with Heth, because he saw that his confession would likely cause problems for her, sensitive soul that she is. Given my conviction of his feelings being true, I just can't see him moving on for a while, if ever. He knows what true love is (Nimrien), and has had plenty of exposure over the last years to the ladies of the court in both MT and DA. I think his character is just such that he won't settle for less than "the best." (I'm thinking of him taking Nimrien's ultimatum, for example, rather than finding an "easier" mate.) He would rather do without again rather than compromise just to satisfy carnal needs, because he knows the bliss of having both body and soul involved in a union.
But I am unapologetically a hopeless romantic, too, so it's typical that I would favor this idea, so long as it follows the character as I understand him/her. :)
And given Heth's non-recognition of her feelings for both Faramir and Elrohir, I think the pattern is set for potential feelings for Imrahil. If nothing else, she would squash any beginnings of them because he is currently her liege-lord. Plus, given the wicked esquire schedule, when would she have time or energy to dwell on them?
And as for a healthy, not-only-based-on-fantastic-sex life together - oh, yes! I'm not saying I can see them sparring together every day *g*, but, I dunno - in my mind I can see Heth doing some serious maturing and growing initially, but having more than sex and children that they can share to bind them together over the decades. She is strong enough in her own right to function as his equal, I think. But, as always, this is all IMvvHO.
Maybe we need to give Isabeau lots of puppy-dog eyes about continuing right on into Dale, and closer to some sort of decision on Heth's part... *sad, soulful look sent in Isabeau's direction*
