|All the tales of the Valar and the Elves are so knit together that one may scarce expound any one without needing to set forth the whole of their great history.|

OK, folks-this is the general forum now for questions that don't seem to fit in any of the other threads. I'm going to sort some of the earlier posts into the appropriate forums, but it might take a while, so bear with me. I'll delete the ones that have already been reposted by their authors.
Strangely enough, Rebecca, that's exactly what happens! She's the daughter of the Haradrim ambassador and a mathmatician and astronomer. Amrothos starts out by admiring her mind.
Quel suprise! In my mind I was seeing her as the ambassador's beloved daughter too! And unlike all the other tall slim beauties of Gondor, I was picturing her as a more curvaceous sort.
don't know when I'll write it though. Might have to do that Sherlock Holmes-style mystery I keep promising Una.
No, Andra was an only child, though it is an interesting idea. He would have wanted to buy them out of slavery, and would probably have remained in Harad to do so.
Yes, I see what you mean. I was looking for the story that described Imrahil rescuing him from being whipped in the market in Umbar, as I thought I recalled something of his mother's background being described somewhere. Didn't find it, but I thought I recalled that she was of noble birth but had been sold into slavery along with the rest of her family after they were on the losing side of a feud of some kind. So is it possible that, unbeknownst to him, Andrahar has cousins somewhere -- that is cousins by way of his mother, who might actually care to know him? If his mother had a sister who fared a bit better in life than she did -- perhaps being bought by someone not so highly placed as Andrahar's father -- I wonder if it's conceivable that she (Andra's hypothetical aunt) could have ultimately been freed herself, or had children who were freed.
