OK, folks-this is the general forum now for questions that don't seem to fit in any of the other threads. I'm going to sort some of the earlier posts into the appropriate forums, but it might take a while, so bear with me. I'll delete the ones that have already been reposted by their authors.
If they are in fact, shortcomings...Lothiriel does have access to that exquisitely illustrated volume of The Garden of Love...I can see her doing a bit of research, though I can't see her talking to Imrahil about this, even though he would be an invaluable resource. I think that would test even his considerable self-possession.
There's book-learning, and then there's knowledge that comes from experience ... and having a set of the equipment oneself. I have no doubt that Lothiriel will be more than satisfactory that department once she's married to Eomer... just wondering if in the back of his mind, buried somewhere deep, will be a memory of being in the hands of someone who really knew what he was doing. A pointless digression, really -- sorry!
