OK, folks-this is the general forum now for questions that don't seem to fit in any of the other threads. I'm going to sort some of the earlier posts into the appropriate forums, but it might take a while, so bear with me. I'll delete the ones that have already been reposted by their authors.
Sitting here in Cambridge MA, watching Ted Kennedy's funeral on television, a thought that I'd had inklings of in the past came into fullness just now, Isabeau. Your depiction of Imrahil reminds me in some ways of Ted Kennedy. Not all ways -- but the political savviness, understanding of human nature based in part on humble acceptance of his own human weaknesses and failings, devotion to family including nephews who lost their mother, love of sailing, charm & wit.
I'm not one to follow the lives of celebrities and I tend to dislike maudlin public spectacles and people who imagine a connection to a well-known public figure, but felt compelled to watch the funeral. It was really moving. And funny that I thought of Imrahil ...
