Princes of Dol Amroth
February, 25 2006
Questions about the life and times of Imrahil and his family can be asked here, including questions about Ultimatums, Kin-Strife and the shorter stories. Discussions about Brand can go either here or in the Best-Loved Son thread, since his stories sort of overlap both cycles.

Amrothos's view on things must be interesting, I'd quite like to see what Peloren thinks of it all as well. life must seem pretty strange for him at the moment, they beat Sauron, Andra was in love with Boromir, now Imrahil keeps leaving him places, first he goes to Lorien on his own the Andra goes back to Dol-Amroth and finds a boy who looks like Boromir, and then there's Hethlin, a girl in the swan knights and Andra is still acting strangely, hitting her in Lithbad, and his sudden promotion to comander however temporary and the whole pirates thing, Andra won't be the only one facing an uncomfortable interview with Imrahil about all this. It's a wonder the poor guy can keep his head straight.
Or else Halaran's view, I know he's dead but it would be ibteresting to see what he thinks of the woman his daughter has become.
The same ould e said for Nimriens view of Imrahil, now that could be quite funny. Finduilias as well, Imrahil falling for some sprig half his age, just like she promissed.

Interesting that you mention Mrs Brand Denise, I always figured he marries Heth, or would that be impossible given all the discusion over Tell?
No, I don't think that's impossible, Star, given what we've been told thus far! Fourth Age says that Hethlin's daughter marries Aragorn's son, IIRC, and Late Fragment reveals that Hethlin's "love" dies some time before that story takes place. The only caveat I'd personally put on the match is that it would take Brand a while to grow into the same maturity that Hethlin has already. That's just my take, of course, and you probably have a good idea of who I'm rooting for as Mr. Hethlin anyway. *g*
...I'd quite like to see what Peloren thinks of it all as well.
LOL! That's a great way to put it, Nargil. You're right, Peloren must be wondering what on earth is going on. I like the idea of all those other PoVs, too. Halaran's would be very poignant, and perhaps even the one I'd like to see most. Somehow, I have this vision of him looking on and thinking, "You go, my girl! Show those pansy Gondorians what a northern Ranger is made of." I wonder what Heth's mother would think of her outcome-so-far? Glad she's getting some more exposure to more "womanly" things, or a bit sad that Heth isn't more appreciated for the person she is already? Or both, I guess.

I think anyone's pespective would be funny, Lorend's thoughts on all this, or Esteven's given he and Hethlin go way back.
As for Brand and Hethlin, why not, allthough I like your idea as well Denise, in fact Hethlin ending up with anyone would be good, everyone has thier merits, I bet in the end it will turn up to be someone totally un-expected though.

Goodness gracious, but you've all been busy! I have to concur with the "twelve-year-olds have limited vocabulary when describing feminine beauty" theory. And while I did actually play with the Brand Marries Hethlin theory, Star, it's something that just occurred to me the other day and I don't know if it would work as regards Tell-I'd have to take another look at the pedigree.
Brand definitely has a bit of a crush on Heth, and it goes on for quite a while. I think they'll end by being very good friends-the woman Swan Knight and the whoreson bastard have a lot in common as regards social acceptance.
Now I have a question to ask everyone. I'm doing NaNoWriMo next month, which means you won't be seeing any fanfic from me for a while. Now while you might think I've been resting on my laurels, I've actually not been. I've been working on another Brandmir story, and I have five chapters and am working on the sixth. I think it's going to run 7-8 chapters, possibly 9. I really wanted to finish it before NaNoWriMo started, but given that I have Halloween stuff to do, I don't think that's going to happen. I figure I can probably finish the sixth chapter though.
I really, really didn't want to post another WIP, and I'm a little worried that I'd get stalled on it, though unlike Kin-strife, I've got a good idea of how this one ends.
So the question is-since I've not posted much in a while, do you guys want to see this one in an unfinished condition? Or shall I wait until after NaNoWriMo and hope I've got enough juice to finish it as a Christmas present?

Hmmmm... *intrigued* That sounds to me as if your own choice for who-Heth-nests-with isn't set in stone, yet, if you are still playing with alternatives?
Regarding the WiP: I would like to see it as soon as possible, especially as I'm usually off-line for the Christmas Days/New Year and so would have to wait even longer to read it. BUT I don't want you to feel that we are looming over you while you are busy with other things. Please do what you are most comfortable with!
I know the feeling - I had hoped to finish/post the third chapter of my WiP this year, but it doesn't look as if I'll manage to do it.

*has mighty struggle with conscience*
*conscience smacks selfish nature around and wins*
I have to concur with Imhiriel, Isabeau - if you really don't want to post another WIP, then you shouldn't. Who knows - the muse might high-jack the ending, and then there may be stuff in the earlier chapters that you wish to alter...
Although I'm as intrigued as Imhiriel about the Hethlin husband comment - it's not set in stone? *goes off to polish her Imrahil arguments just in case*

What??? OK, I'm thinking Faramir and I need to have a little talk here...

Isabeau,it's up to you at the end of the day, if you don't want to post it as a wip then don't, however I'm much looking forward to seeing this fic when it does arrive, but I shan't demand to see it, it's your work , we're lucky you share it with us at all.
I'm also looking forward to finally finding out who Heth ends up with, Star was always one of Faramir's biggest fans untill Brand came along, that it's not quite set in stone yet makes it all the more exciting.
Enjoy your NaNoWriMo, whatever that is,

Hmmm, to post your new WIP or wait. I am having a difficult time with this question as well. I'm thinking, "do I want instant gratification, or wait and have this a gift for after finals week"? I'm thinking it would be wonderful to look forward to for December, as much as I want to read it now. So, I guess I vote for waiting. But it is up to you.

Brand and Heth, I thought it was another of my crazy ideas. I always hoped things would go wrong between Faramir and Eowyn and Heth could have him, then Brand came along.
As for the story, I think you should post it now, or at least send it me to read *puppy dog eyes* Nargil seems to have managed to cultivate some patience, I don't have any :p
Can't wait for the fic whenever it arrives,

Now or later? Hmmmmmmmm, well if you post now we won't have all the story, and if you post later we will, but.....
Given you said your muse likes reviews, if you post a chapter once a week then that means we'll be able to read and it wont be a wip because you'll have the next few chapters which will give you a chance to write the ending, and you'll get a review for each chapter rather than one for the whole thing.
That's what I'd do but in the end it's up to you,
I'll be happy either way, it's only 9 week till Christmas so we'll see it soon anyhow.
