Blog_display Isabeau's Journal By:Isabeau November, 12 2005 OK, folks-this is the general forum now for questions that don't seem to fit in any of the other threads. I'm going to sort some of the earlier posts into the appropriate forums, but it might take a while, so bear with me. I'll delete the ones that have already been reposted by their authors. Post A Comment E-mail Author [1] Is this the place to ask questions about things that happen in Isabeau's stories, or is this the place for Isabeau herself to start discussions about her stories? Not sure about the protocol of blogging... Thanks! Rebecca Posted:Nov 27, 2005 11:20 GMT Reply to this Comment [2] Either way, Rebecca! If you have questions, fire away. Posted:Dec 2, 2005 19:04 GMT Reply to this Comment [3] Here's the timeline for what Dwim calls the "Unabeau-verse", which I promised to post yesterday...it took a while to throw together. I'm including Soledad's stories as well, though by her own admission she doesn't strictly follow my timeline, and we have differing views of the origins of Imrahil's mother. But they're great stories and Andra and my Imri are in them, so I put them in. Dwim, Una, feel free to correct anything I got wrong. 2970--Chapter Ten of Kin-Strife (Isabeau) 2971--? Posted:Dec 2, 2005 19:20 GMT Reply to this Comment [5] December 2, 2005 (I'm adding the date just to make it easier to follow along) Thanks Isabeau! OK, one question that I've long had since reading Captain My Captain for the first time (I won't admit how many times I've re-read it), is why the Eagles maintained their alliance with Hethlin's family after the unnamed(?) ancestor made his fateful bargain with Angmar. I really like how you portray the Eagles as beings very concerned with honor, manners, and the like. Completely believable and interesting. But given that, why would they want to associate with a self-cursed line that had, at one point, gone over to the dark side? I mean, if Elladan is on their x-list for the theft of a tailfeather ... It's not inconceivable that the Eagles chose to stick with Hethlin's house, but I'd love to know why. I'll keep my questions to one-per-post, probably easier that way. Thanks so much Isabeau, your writing is uniformly superb! Rebecca Posted:Dec 2, 2005 22:39 GMT Reply to this Comment [6] Hi Isabeau, that helps a lot. Are the two W.I.P's (the last log of the foam flyer & a Lossarnach yule) being posted yet? I haven't seen them around. If they are where abouts are they? Thanks Nargil Posted:Dec 3, 2005 16:10 GMT Reply to this Comment [7] Hi Rebecca, Nargil- Sorry to be so late getting back to you-Mike is setting things so I will be notified when people ask questions or make comments. Been a bit short of time this week, and it will continue through the weekend. Needless to say, the son had a totally awful time growing up among the Dunedain, to the point that he preferred the company of the Eagles. He was a bit of a wild woodsman type-it's a wonder he ever managed to nest himself! At this point, I don't know much more about him than that, and that his eagle-friend was much closer to him than is usually the case in such relationships. As to why the Eagles succored him, it's simple-he was innocent of his father's crimes. And all of his descendents after him were careful to tread the straight and narrow, so the Eagles had no problem with them. For all I know, they nipped the head off their betrayer. There's a story there someday, but I'm not going to get around to it any time soon. ---------- I'll keep my questions to one-per-post, probably easier that way. Thanks Nargil ------------ They are not posted yet. I'm trying very hard to get Lossarnach Yule done in time to post it in the next couple of weeks. I started it last year during the holidays, worked on it some at intervals during March and the summer, but didn't feel like finishing it and posting it since it's a Yule story. Last Log is about twenty pages at this point and I have several chapters left to go on it. It is a story I definitely intend to finish, which is why I mentioned it in the timeline, but it's a bit of a departure for me, and I'm not entirely sure how it will turn out. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly when you'll see that one. I don't want to post it as a WIP-I'm trying not to post any WIPs any more other than Silver Swan, which is more of a serial. And yes, I have been trying to finish some of the stories that have been hanging fire for the last year. Hope this helps. Isabeau Posted:Dec 6, 2005 17:32 GMT Reply to this Comment [8] December 6, 2005 Thanks for explaining about Hethlin's family's history with the Eagles -- very interesting. Father going over to the dark side while mother is pregnant with son who later renounces father's choice ... sounds familiar. Cool! Rebecca Posted:Dec 6, 2005 21:29 GMT Reply to this Comment [9] Looking forward to the both of them, an update would be a great christmas prezzie. Also looking forward to the W.I.P updates, particularly Kinstrife and Ultimatums. I love your fics and it's such a reasurance to know you've not fallen off the face of the earth. Thanks for answering the questions Nargil Posted:Dec 7, 2005 16:29 GMT Reply to this Comment [10] Rebecca wrote: Thanks for explaining about Hethlin's family's history with the Eagles -- very interesting. Cool Hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it, but yes, I suppose there's a resemblence...;-) Hey, there are no new plot devices.... Thanks for answering the questions Nargil ------------------------- Since I took this job last year, I just haven't had the time like I used to. Or rather my schedule is different. My muse is apparently a wee-hours-of-the-morning creature for the most part, and my job is a standard 8-4:30 thing. My schedule used to be more irregular, and I stayed up a lot later. Nowadays, I get most of my writing done if I fall asleep early (about 9:00), then wake up about midnight and can't get back to sleep. Needless to say, that doesn't happen often.
