|All the tales of the Valar and the Elves are so knit together that one may scarce expound any one without needing to set forth the whole of their great history.|

OK, folks-this is the general forum now for questions that don't seem to fit in any of the other threads. I'm going to sort some of the earlier posts into the appropriate forums, but it might take a while, so bear with me. I'll delete the ones that have already been reposted by their authors.

my muse is stirring a bit.

Thanks, Isabeau! I was referring to the story you'd mentioned at the end of last August, the writing of which would resolve Hethlin's choice. You were debating about whether to write it and, if you wrote it, whether to post it ... is this ringing any bells?
Of course, we'd be happy with ANY update! ;)

Looking back at past entries, it was possibly the one to do with the death/funeral of Imrahil?
(By the way, Mike, my first attempted post seemed to hang up on the apostrophes again.)
Denise, hoping to stir the muse with any possibilities

I've been waiting since 2002 to find out who Hethlin will *cough* nest with. Of course my heart lies with Elrohir, he is so perfect for her. And since reading CMC for the 5th time, it's just plain how suitable he is for her in comparison to Imrahil.

 Dear Isabeau,
Just read your story "Fourth Age" - just a question, I know this does not answer finally who Hethlin ends up with, but it does raise questions as to whether she ever ends up with Elrohir. I'm guessing based on your story - "A Fourth Age" that this is correct.
Is this a true assumption?
Many thanks for clarifying this question and putting it to rest.

 Dear Isabeau,
I meant to say that "Fourth Age" clarifies the fact that she does not end up with Elrohir. And wanted to ask whether this assumption of mine is correct. Apologies for the typos

I've always thought Elrohir was too old for her. She needs a younger man like Imrahil to hang with. ;-D

I'm with Denise on this one.... though I have no objections whatsoever to Heth's current relationship with Elrohir, as long as it eventually comes to an end. *Gets dreamy look thinking about the harp....*
I know it's silly to care about fictional characters, but it just breaks my heart whenever I read a story where the twins (or, worse yet, only one of them) don't sail and eventually die....
(Not that I'd ever want to help stir up the controversy of Who Heth Nest With again..... *vbg*)

Not ignoring everyone, I was just trying to decide how I felt about saying anything. I'm not unaware that I've not updated in a good while now and I'm also aware that folks have been waiting patiently for years now (Was it really 2002? I thought it was 2003!). I'm a bit afraid that if I spill the beans I won't want to finish anything. But in the interest of giving something back, I did post part of the answer back in March during B2MeM. If you read the last three chapters of Dwimordene's excellent story Armageddon Will Not Be Televized (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/b2mem2010/viewstory.php?sid=12&textsize=0&chapter=6) you'll have a least part of the answer to the question.
Some folks have already read my stuff there. For those who didn't, B2MeM was really cool this year-they had designed a questing game involving Morgoth's return and the battle at the end of the world. There was role-playing as well as writing and you could take literally any character in Tolkien's canon or an original character of your own. I played Imrahil and Dwimordene played Halbarad. There were tons of Silm Elves, a reformed first-age vampire, a hobbit from the Seventh Age who was apparently living in a national park in America and many others. Imrahil went on a quest to the Valar to speak for Ar-Pharazon and the Numenoreans shut under their mountains. Halbarad was involved with a Haradric waif from the Seventh Age and kept be-bopping back and forth in time and getting shot. In the link I've given you, Imrahil gets sucked into one of Halbarad's time trips and they end up in Umbar (Amber) in the Seventh Age.
Not meaning to be coy here, and I've discussed with Una about her posting her story that has been sitting around since about 2003 and answers the question, but I think she would like to do some re-writing before she does.
