Blog_display Isabeau's Journal By:Isabeau November, 12 2005 OK, folks-this is the general forum now for questions that don't seem to fit in any of the other threads. I'm going to sort some of the earlier posts into the appropriate forums, but it might take a while, so bear with me. I'll delete the ones that have already been reposted by their authors. Post A Comment E-mail Author [271] I'd like to help with re-organising the Journal, and so re-post my questions regarding Tirathiel and Healers among the Rangers, but I don't know quite where. They are rather general topics, and don't seem to fit in the topics you have already opened, Isabeau. So would you please just point me the right way *g* and I'll just post the questions there. There are some more threads for you now, Imhiriel. The Blackbow/Ranger thread would be a good place for the healer question and as for Tirathiel, Princes of Dol Amroth would probably be the best place for her. Does this help, or can you think of other topics? Isabeau Posted:Feb 25, 2006 10:03 GMT Reply to this Comment [273] There are some more threads for you now, Imhiriel. Does this help, or can you think of other topics? Thank you very much, Isabeau, it's perfect. I have already reposted those two questions to the appropriate threads. Do I understand you correctly, that we should go through this thread, here, again, and re-post our comments to the correct threads, so that you then can delete these comments in the monster-thread? [274] Hm... general forum. Where can I vent my passionate hero-worship of Madame Isabeau? So many updates! All should shower the muse with love lest she recede into darkness forevermore. I for one love Mademoiselle Muse. If only I have a Mademoiselle Muse for term papers! Alas, this is not so. Generally speaking, I love the latest chapter of Ultimatums the most and implore the Muse to hear my plea for more chapters. *nods* The Illustrious Pinkus Posted:Mar 25, 2006 00:43 GMT Reply to this Comment [275] The Illustrious Pinkus said-Generally speaking, I love the latest chapter of Ultimatums the most and implore the Muse to hear my plea for more chapters. Glad to see you found us, Pinkus! I'll see what I can do about Ultimatums, but right now le Muse d'Isabeau is wanting to do another stand-alone story. After that, she's thinking it's time to update Silver Swan. But I'll relay your request! Nargil Posted:Mar 26, 2006 09:08 GMT Reply to this Comment [277] its sad that I have to resort to this sort of begging...I miss your *typed in bold* Elrohir...reading CMC for the first time 3 years ago - my university grade suffered for an essay that I was suppose to hand in the next day..but I found your story and as it was Heth was just far more compelling than Hobbes and Lockian political theory - then started an addiction for Elrohir stories which ofcourse has not been fufilled since the Elrohir I love is the one is with Heth in your story -recently instead of revising for my FINAL university exams I found CMC again to read Elrohir/Heth interactions...but just to add I graduated and did well :) I've also left a few reviews recently since I've just read 4th age something I vowed not to do..does she not get with Elrohir? :( eressa Posted:Jul 28, 2006 18:49 GMT Reply to this Comment [278] Hi Eressa, I haven't been around much lately, so it's funny that I've popped in just when someone else has stopped by to ask questions about Elrohir that I've long had (see, for example, post 152 much earlier in this discussion thread). Seems like that question will remain unresolved for the time being ... which is frustrating for those of us who really liked the story. But our enduring interest in such issues is a testament to the strength of Isabeau's writing! Rebecca Posted:Jul 29, 2006 04:32 GMT Reply to this Comment [279] Rebecca - I have been a lurker on these isabeau/hethlin forums for a few months, reading snatchings of postings which will give me a clue of whether Silver Swan will be updated or when indeed the 'who is best with Heth to make a nest' competition gets heated..for instance the Imrahil camp *which is very strong* the Elrohir camp e.t.c. It is with undue testament though that after 3 years (the first time I read CMC in my freshman year) of hoping for Elrohir and Heth will bond together that I hang up my metaphorical hat. Firstly after reading much fan-fanficiton isabeau's characterisation of Elrohir is the most beautiful *I think* and realistic depiction of any Elf out there. Which I say Isabeau shows the greatness of your writing. For we are all human...no? And to make a main elf character come alive is quite a feat..no other tolkien fandom writer has done so. He is what I think Elrohir is, he literally comes alive for me. And ofcourse Heth is just an amazing strong character..as strongly rendered as Elizabeth Bennet or Jane Eyre - but ofcourse better with the sword! But here is what draws me to post the past few days...and why I hang my hat and defer to the 'man camp'. For after reading fourth age...it is without doubt that Heth will not bear the child of Elrohir...no way will Eldarion bind himself to a first cousin - that is incest. And so with much a due I look foward to seeing the friendship that Elrohir and Heth will probably share in the future stories...but my heart is sad, for I truly rooted and believed that they truly have a beautiful and lasting bonding that would be a pleasure for both of them - and ofcourse for me to read! p.s Isabeau I truly trust that in your judgement as an author and where you would take your characters...but as A.S Byatt said her characters only come alive when they start acting independently from your vision. Not that I am pressuming anything but I thought you to be more interested in Tolkiens 'atani' world's of gondor etc, but Elrohir it seemd in CMC had a will beyond you the author...so in secret I hoped he might challenge the plan you had for Heth and win her begruding acceptance that they should 'nest'. Anyway thanks for you wonderful stories. eressa Posted:Jul 29, 2006 14:59 GMT Reply to this Comment [280] Rebecca - I was reading your well turned out post (152) and all the other postings that followed it. I have to say that your arguments have brought a wave of hope to rise in my heart! Yes its true that Fourth Age does bring in questions if Elrohir and Hethlins daughter marries her first cousin Eldarion...but if I remember in CMC people wanted Aragorn to marry Hethlin's mother who was a close kinswoman...and also the North Dunedain were so few that alot of people probably had to marry their cousins...so maybe there is some hope....that Elrohir marries Hethlin...I take back my 'hat' and once again try and support the Elrohir camp. I always thought though in the back of my head that Elrohir and Elladan stay in middle earth...for they seem to be Elvenkind yet closely similar to men..for in the riding of the Grey Company Tolkien never once revers to the twins as 'elves' but as seperate from Legolas and as 'Sons of Elrond'...and they've been riding with the Dunedain for centuries...yes different from Men but they have ridden for the Dunedain for centuries...and feel like they are part of them. Elrohir is an elf yes...but he is more Dunedain I feel, a Ranger at heart very similar to Hethlin, wild and free yet tempered by Arda and all her nature. I feel that Tolkien left is unsaid their fate for us to decide....but he says that Celeborn sails accross the sea...as of Sam *okay thats legend*, Legolas and Gimil. But in regards to Elrohir he is silent...and one were fanfiction can fit in! But maybe another tolkien legend can give us some hope the fate of "A Silvan Elf who, at least according to legend, accompanied Nimrodel on her journey to the southern havens. Mithrellas, it is said, became lost in the woods of Belfalas, where she was found by Imrazôr the Númenórean. So Elvish blood entered the line of the Princes of Dol Amroth, it was claimed, since her son Galador was the first of the long line of Princes" (Encylopedia of Arda). According to legend Mithrellas was able to sail to Valinor..afterwards...but ofcourse Elrohir is not a full blooded elf so will have a choice. But maybe Elrohir and Hethlin go on and found their own settlent somewhere in Rhovanion (or Greenwood)..etc etc. My hope is renewed! eressa Posted:Jul 29, 2006 15:48 GMT Reply to this Comment | ||||||
